About the Day of Music
A friendly one day festival with a mixture of traditional and contemporary folk
music and song performed utilizing the two floors of the Maghull Town Hall Complex.
Besides performances from the top artists from the folk music scene,
the event also includes local school performances and a rolling folk club held by
the various folk clubs around the Merseyside, Lancashire & Cheshire areas during the afternoon.
The Maghull Hour is usually based around a theme; Songs, tunes, poems and monologues
are performed by the resident members of the club.
You can take a stroll into the Craft stalls, plus hot food and sandwiches are available,
there are two bars which also serve Tea & Coffee.  The shops are a short walk for take away food.
Tickets are limited so please book early.

The Maghull Town Hall is approx. 1 mile from the M57/58 interchange on the A59
We are only about a 20 minute drive from Liverpool city Centre.

About our last Maghull Day of Music

A Letter from the Maghull Folk Club Chairman: Tony Gibbons.

It is with much regret and heavy hearts that the decision
has been taken to make the Maghull Day of Music 2008 our
last one. After 16 glorious years a stage has beer reached
whereby it has become too tiring and time-consuming to carry
on. The committee don't mind you all being aware that the
seven committee members four are in their seventies, one is
approaching that, another is due their bus pass in November
and one is a youngster (we don't want to talk about him!)

As the size of the committee has diminished over the years - from
an original eighteen to the present seven - so the workload and
responsibility has increased for each individual. We can only
chorus our admiration for those who organise large weekend festivals.
This is not the complete end though. We will be running an
annual concert at Maghull Town Hall around the same time of
year - early November - featuring a couple of the most popular
acts on the Folk and Roots scene.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank the following - in
no particular order of importance - for their contribution to what
has always been a thoroughly enjoyable event: all the past
committee members, the local folk clubs for their loyal support
the volunteer stewards, the local schools and participating pupils
the local press, folk magazines and media, the staff of Maghull
Town Hall, the St John Ambulance Brigade, Maghull and Sefton
Councils for their financial and material support, Jenny Shotcliffe
and Lindsey Hunt for their work on the Youth afternoons,  the craft
stall holders, all the wonderful artists who have entertained us
over the years, Eddie Green and family and Richard Harrison
for great sound work, and the many, many hundreds of you out
there who have supported us every year.

Last but not least a big thanks to our own members at Maghull
Folk Club who stick with us through thick and thin. We'll just end
by sending a message to our founder and mentor - Dave Day.
We've enjoyed every minute and we hope we did you proud!

Yours, The Committee

Jane Day, JoeRyan, AnneRyan, Micki Boardman, Bob Anderton
Paul Robinson, Tony Gibbons.
PS. See you all in November!
