So I am not the one who had invented the wheel in Computers cooling methods. This are the basic principals, who helps the people to understand what is their real needs, and by that they will save some money instead of paying money for special coolers that they do not need. |

First of all lets see some pictures of current and old CPUs and their cores .

All that we need to do is to help the only one Hot spot like the CPU Core The idea with the classic heat sings, was and is, a very practical way to do the job. I will repeat again that I am not the one that I have invent the wheel, but I will add my personal opinion that had come from hard tests with all the methods of cooling with exception the water cooling. 1) Heat sings and air-cooling. There is a race the last 3 years in this area, many little companies that manufacturing heat sings, finally they open their eyes in new designs of CPU coolers that will be more effective that the classic ones. The Japanese ALPHA company had open the way for many others to enter in this area. The big question is, does it worth to pay and get a very high-tech Coolers this days.. The answer is no. Why??? Simply because the CPUs from 2002 until now, by design they do not produce that much heat, so heat is not our biggest problem with over clocking any more. I do not support the idea of extreme overcloking, YES I prefer to have my system clocked high , but I know were to stop too . Also the modern INTEL CPUs is coming with a huge and very efficient stock heat sings. The only that I will advice you to do is to add one faster and bigger fan. The Sanyo Denki produces, fast and also low noise ones. 2)Copper heatsings Watch out with them, what shines is not always copper!! There are some good coolers out there, but not all perform that good !! 3) How about peltier solutions?? No, stay away from that, the peltier element, will create low temperatures for sure, but your CPU will die for sure too. The why is very simple, the CPUs its like an engine but it had only two states of operation, like idle and full load. By using the Peltier, at the idle state the CPU temperature falls even below 0 Celsius, at the full load the temperature with a good peltier and HSF (air cooler) will raise to 25 ~ 30 Celsius. The fast pass from the one condition to the other, it will kill by the time the CPUs interconnections, with result, one day it will stop to operate . I did lost one CPU from the peltier element (PIII-650 Boxed Slot1), and yes I still cry for the loss of one CPU that cost me like 334 $ US or 385 , and the killer was one peltier kit that does not cost more than 52 $ US or 60 . 4) Water cooling. I never try it, or will ever do, as the risk is high, the cost is high too, and finally does not worth as practical solution. , water and electronics are not good friends
5) CPU pastes and thermal pads. I do not know why but I never trusted the thermal pads that I found in many INTEL stock coolers. I always take them off, and install high quality white silicone, I did a personal test in some products that claim that contain silver inside and I found that their behavior is not any better than the high quality white silicon. I know that most people will think that my words is a bit illogical, well it is not as the praxis had turn down all the myths that some people is supporting specially in the net with main reason to make profits by taking advantage the computer users, 2 Celsius difference, had never save any one, or helped one system to called as more stable one, than another. Were you can get high quality white silicone?? That was a big problem even for me, I am lucky that I got some, that had come to me with one ALPHA cooler Kit, nice white high quality silicon from Japan. But it looks that this days the (Arctic Silver 3) product also gives some good results, but it is a little overpriced by my opinion, it can easily found in Greece at the www.Checkmate.gr Do not get white boxes with out name or brand. Computers in general, they are not dyeing from heat problems, we insisting as users to do the best for our system, but we have to stay in the path of logic too.
