The Pinoy R.N. chatroom is intended to serve as a medium for productive and positive exchange of ideas among nurses and student nurses. As such, all visitors are enjoined to observe the following guidelines in dealing with fellow users in the chatroom. Thank you for your cooperation.
By participating in the Pinoy R.N. chatroom, you agree to be bound by these guidelines.
GENERAL CHATROOM GUIDELINES:
1.) All non-nursing related chat must stop when a new user comes in and asks for help (nursing, exam concerns). Chat must remain stopped until either user has been helped or someone specific is actively helping said user and the user understands who is helping.
2.) Impersonation of anyone in the chatroom is strictly prohibited. (Violators may be Banned w/o Warning)
3.) Harassment, swearing, profanity, flaming, flooding, or general rudeness will not be tolerated. This includes choosing an offensive nick to use in the chatroom.(Violators may be Banned w/o Warning)
4.) Use of scripts or special characters that annoy or unnecessarily add text to the room is usually considered flooding.(Violators may be Banned w/o Warning)
5.) There will be no advertising of any kind either in the main chatroom or via (PM) Private Messaging. This includes spamming, advertorial website or blog links intended to drive traffic to another site, for sale items, etc. Informational links such as website address of State boards, the PRC, or a specific news article related to nursing are allowed.
6.) Discussion of topics and questions asked in actual NCLEX examinations are prohibited to avoid a repeat of what happened in South Korea. (Violators may be Banned w/o Warning)
7.) Discussion and/or posting of links to contents that are illegal or violate copyright/intellectual property (MP3 lectures, NCLEX CD Downloads, etc.). Anyone found to be in violation will be reported to the appropriate authorities. (Violators may be Banned w/o Warning)
8.) All users are required to use a nickname in the chatroom. Nicknames must contain letters and/or numbers. Users are encouraged to use a permament nick for easy recall and/or identification. Please avoid changing your nick once in the room other than to add "away", "food", "afk" or similar short add-ons to your current nickname. Excessive name changes is not desirable as it may be hard to keep track of who is who.
9.) As courtesy to other users of the chatroom, please use English or Filipino (tagalog) when chatting.
10.) As a matter of courtesy, please avoid chatting in ALL CAPITAL LETTERS as it is generally considered as shouting.
11.) Any conflict between or among users must be settled using the private message feature of the chatroom. Private messaging can be triggered by clicking on a chatter’s nickname.
12.) The Pinoy R.N. chatroom is accessible to everyone (including minors). As such, adult-oriented/related topics are discouraged.
13.) Questioning the actions of the moderator in the main chatroom is discouraged. Any complaints or concerns regarding moderator abuse must be coursed directly to the chatroom owner via e-mail at lylesantos (at) yahoo (dot) com. Moderator complaint must include a screenshot, transcript/log, or at the very least, a description of the events being reported and the name(s) of the moderator(s) involved.
Non-compliance to the foregoing guidelines will result in the violator being given a warning unless otherwise stated. Continued or repeated violations will result to the offender being banned from the chatroom either temporarily or permanently.
MODERATOR GUIDELINES:
1.) The primary roles of Chatroom Moderators are:
- Maintain order in the chatroom by making sure that rules are strictly being enforced.
- Extend help/assistance to visitors, guests, and members regarding their nursing concerns.
2.) The power to ban or kick a user must be used responsibly and sparingly. Unless otherwise stated, the following must be observed when using the kick/ban powers:
- 1st offense – Warning (direct erring chatter to chatroom guidelines)
- 2nd offense – Kick (must state specific guideline being violated)
- 3rd offense – Ban (must state specific guideline being violated)
3.) Moderators are subject to the general chatroom guidelines. Any moderator found to be violating the chatroom guidelines will be stripped of moderator status without notice.
4.) Moderators must call the attention of fellow moderators who are in violation of the chatroom guidelines. Failure to do so will cause all moderators present to lose moderator status.
5.) Banned chatters may only be unbanned by the Chatroom owner(s) or by the same moderator who instituted the ban.
