Upon arrival, the town board members review the current month’s bills in detail. After review, each board member signs the vouchers attached.
Upon opening of the meeting, the board members make a motion to approve
the vouchers as presented, or have open discussion of any questions they might have on the charges incurred during the past month.
The board also approves the minutes of last months meetings, which are all mailed to each board member for review. If a board member has any
changes to the minutes as written, he/she brings it in front of the
entire board. Once discussed, the board either approves, ask for review
of the actual recording of the past meeting, or disapproves the changes
that were presented.
The board is also given a supervisor’s report to discuss, review, and
approve. The supervisor’s report consists of all the money actions that
were taken over the past month. This includes the incoming receipts as
well as the outgoing monies spent.
Once all this has been done, the real meat and potatoes of the meeting
begins. The guests are given a chance to voice an opinion or ask the
board to look into something that concerns the town. When the entire
assembly of guests has been heard, the board then discusses any new
business that they might want to bring up to the board and address as a
group. Besides serving on the board, each board member has several
committees on which they serve. These are formed to help expedite issues that need to be addressed without having all the town board members involved. The committees have no authority to act individually, but bring a final presentation to the entire board to either make a motion to approve or disapprove.
The board is constantly working on projects from month to month, and
updates are presented each month until the board has completed the task. It isn’t just a one-night job; the board members are always looking to protect the public interest in safety as well as finances.
Once all-important new and old business has been discussed, the board
goes through any correspondence that might have been sent to the board.
When all that is done, a motion to adjourn is presented.
We hope to see you at our next meeting!!!!
