Notes: Sizes are based on AD&D 2nd Edition rules; however, note that the "Juvenile" size rating happens to basically match the AD&D 1st Edition sizes as well (so that you can pretend that those dragons are adults in that system!). In any case, dragons any bigger than this would over-fill the Dungeon Craft screen (and is too much work, anyway!).

A table of dragon sizes is given below (1st Edition AD&D sources: Monster Manual, Monster Manual II, Dragon #37; 2nd EditionAD&D sources: Monstrous Manual, Polyhedron #73). Square units are calculated by taking 1/6 of the stated feet (since 1 square = 6' x 6'), and then this figure is multiplied by 2/3, to compensate for the dragon's diagonally-upright body. Squares are rounded off. As 2nd Edition AD&D statistics for Sardior the Ruby Dragon do not exist, I added these myself, in italics. Bolded sizes are those for which I have created icons for already!

Note that "base size" in 2nd Edition is the same as the sizes given in 1st Edition sources; apparently, the base size is approximately the body size for Juvenile category (about half of the given figure, the other half of which is tail!). This means that Juvenile category seems to be the "standard" size; in any case, Great Wyrms are far too large to work on reasonably... Note that gem dragons in general have longer tails and shorter bodies (not always, but often). Gold, Mist, and Cloud dragons may actually turn out shorter than the given length in squares, because their bodies are more serpentlike (and wingless), allowing more coiling to fit in a smaller space.
